What happened to Buffy after Season 7?

So you’re one of those Buffy fans who’s been wondering what happened to our favorite slayer after Season 7? Well, let me tell you – I’ve got some exciting news for you!

First off, if you haven’t caught up with Buffy yet (yes, I’m assuming you have), then what are you waiting for? The show is an iconic, genre-defying masterpiece that has captivated audiences for over two decades. It’s a story about friendship, love, and the struggle between good and evil, all set against the backdrop of supernatural chaos.

Now, where was I? Ah yes, Buffy after Season 7! Well, in case you didn’t know (and I’m guessing most of you might not), there have been several spin-off projects that explore the world beyond Sunnydale. One of my personal favorites is Angel, which follows the titular character – aka the vampire with a soul – as he moves to Los Angeles to fight evil and atone for his past sins.

But Buffy herself? Well, let’s just say she’s still kicking (literally). After the events of Season 7, Buffy continued on in the world of comics. Now, I know what you’re thinking – “Comics? Really?” But trust me, these aren’t your parents’ comic books! The Buffy comics have been amazing, offering fresh takes on familiar characters and storylines.

One of my favorite ways to experience new Buffy content is through the IDW Comics series, which brings together some of the show’s most iconic characters in a bold new adventure. It’s like getting a time-traveling dose of nostalgia, with all the best elements of the original series amplified for modern readers.

Of course, no discussion of Buffy would be complete without mentioning the 2018 revival film, Chosen, which picks up where Season 7 left off. I won’t spoil too much (because let’s face it – if you haven’t seen it, you’re clearly a Buffy newbie), but trust me when I say that this film is a game-changer for fans of the show.

And then there’s the more recent Sunnydale: The Animated Series – which brings the beloved world to life in a whole new way. With its retro aesthetic and irreverent humor, it’s like watching an old-school cartoon come to life in the present day (minus all the annoying kid voice acting – you know what I mean!).

But here’s the thing: the Buffyverse isn’t just about one show or series of shows; it’s a vast, interconnected web of characters and stories that span decades. And as a fan, you’re not limited to just watching TV (although, let’s be real, most fans will start there). There are countless novels, video games, and other media projects out there that offer fresh takes on the world Joss Whedon created.

Now, I know some of you might be thinking – “Wait a minute… what about all those spin-off series? What happened to Angel, Spike, and Dawn?” Well, my friends, those characters have got their own storylines too! It’s like they’re all part of a grand narrative that unfolds across multiple formats.

For example, did you know there’s an amazing animated series called Angel & Faith: The Series? It follows the titular couple as they take on some of their most iconic foes in a world full of action and intrigue. And let me tell you – this show is like the ultimate “what if” scenario for Buffy fans.

In fact, when I think about it, what really gets me excited is how the Buffyverse has evolved over time. It’s become more diverse, more inclusive, and more willing to take risks than ever before. Whether through its innovative storytelling or beloved characters, Buffy remains a show that continues to inspire new generations of fans.

But here’s the thing: as much as we love Buffy – and trust me, I’m guilty too! – what do you think is most important for any fandom (or show) to remember? Is it staying true to its roots, or embracing change and innovation?

That’s something to ponder when watching your next episode of Buffy, my friends. The world of the supernatural has come a long way since Sunnydale High School days… but one thing remains constant: the power of friendship, love, and good old-fashioned butt-kicking!
